Biography
Ning An is an internationally acclaimed pianist celebrated for his “flawless technique and profound expressive depth” (New York Concert Review). He is a top prizewinner of the Queen Elizabeth, Cleveland, and William Kapell Piano Competitions, and has performed at major venues including Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall, Salle Verdi in Milan, and the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
A sought-after festival artist, Ning An has appeared at the International Chopin Festival in Duszniki, the Gina Bachauer Piano Festival, Monadnock Music Festival, Bourglinster Festival, and Interlaken Music Festival. He is also an accomplished chamber musician, collaborating with the Ysaye, Daedalus, and Takacs Quartets, as well as artists such as James Ehnes, Paul Neubauer, and Andres Diaz.
Since his orchestral debut at age 16 with the Cleveland Orchestra, he has performed with leading ensembles including the London Symphony, Moscow Radio Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, and Warsaw Philharmonic, under conductors such as Vladimir Fedosseyev and Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos.
A laureate of numerous competitions, including the Rachmaninoff International, Paloma O’Shea Santander, and American Pianists Association, Ning An studied with Sergei Babayan and Russell Sherman. He has given masterclasses worldwide and served on the faculties of Lee University and California State University, Fullerton, sharing his artistry and expertise with the next generation of pianists.
